The Story of Submarine City

Thank you for continuing to support Submarine City.

Since 1978, Ted Gatses has been serving some of the best subs in the region. It all began in Lockport, Illinois, where Ted opened his first store. From there, his passion for delicious, quality subs fueled the growth of Submarine City into a beloved local chain.

The Orland Park location opened two years later in 1980 with his brothers, Tom and George. The store count continued to grow with locations in Oak Lawn, Villa Park, Burbank, Oak Forest, 35th and Halsted, 47th and King Drive, Homer Glen, and Tinley Park.

For nearly five decades, Ted's commitment to great food and community has been the backbone of Submarine City. We are grateful to every customer who has walked through our doors over the years, and we look forward to many more years of serving fresh, tasty sandwiches.
